Light is the foundation of every meaningful photograph — and it’s something you already have access to every day.
This collection of prompts is designed to help you notice how natural light moves through your home and how small changes in where you stand can completely change the feeling of a photo. Each prompt is introduced here, then explored more deeply in a short weekly blog post.
You don’t need to complete these in order.
You don’t need perfect conditions.
Choose one prompt, try it once, and let that be enough. Over time, you’ll start to naturally see better light without thinking about it.
Each week, a new Light prompt is shared as a short blog post with:
one simple photography idea
one gentle tip
reassurance for real life
These posts are meant to be practical, not technical — something you can read quickly and return to later.
Below are the current prompts in the Light series. New prompts are added gradually.
Window Light — Week One
A simple way to use natural light indoors for calmer, more dimensional photos.
→ Read the Window Light prompt
Morning Light — Week Two
How early-day light creates softness and quiet mood in everyday photos.
→ Read the Morning Light prompt
Backlighting — Week Three

These prompts are not assignments and they aren’t meant to be “completed.”
They are simply a way to practice seeing light differently — one moment at a time — and to feel more confident photographing your children as they are.
No pressure. Just for fun. You've got this.
Love,
Anne
