Not every photo needs to be close.
Sometimes the story lives in what surrounds your child.
Take a few steps back and include more of your child’s environment in the frame.
Stepping back adds context. It shows where the moment is happening — a bedroom, a backyard, a familiar corner of your home.
These surroundings become part of the memory.
Pause before taking the photo and notice what in the environment helps tell the story, then include that intentionally.
The space around your child matters just as much as the child themselves.
This prompt is part of The Everyday Childhood Photo Project — a free, gentle photo project offering weekly prompts to help moms document childhood with intention.
