Professional Photography: Art In The Home

I preach "Print your pictures" all the time, everywhere.  It is so important that you have a tangible copy of the images that you love.  Cell phones die.  Computers die.  Storage media quickly becomes out of date or dies.  Technology is great, but it is tenuous.  Printed images last a long time though.  I have pictures of my grandmother as a child in a montage in my dining room where I walk by it multiple times a day.  There are pictures of my mother and father, pictures of my nieces, and pictures of family homes long gone.  In my bathroom are small frames that are changed out often.  Yes, it's kind of a weird place for pictures, but let's face it, we spend a lot of time in that room.  It's a comfort to look over while brushing my teeth and see silly pictures of those I love.

Psychologists have long understood the connection between printed family photos and good mental health.  For almost 40 years now they have studied the effect of photography in therapy and the results are clear.  Children that grow up with family photos around the house show a marked difference in self-esteem and confidence.
