Short on Time?  Read this:

  • "Arranging a photo session is a hassle."  I can take care of all of all of those chores for you, including planning out and providing clothes for your children.
  • "What if I just want digitals?"  While I am happy to sell you digital files, I always ask "What will you do with your digitals?"  Pictures that your kids can see everyday are important to their emotional well being. Discover wall art and albums!
  • "Pictures are too expensive."  Compared to what? You should plan to spend about the cost of a cell phone or laptop. Heirloom products will last a lifetime or two. That cell phone will be dead in two years.  Which would you rather keep? Let's create something your grandkids will fight over!
  • "There are so many photographers.  How do I pick?"  Start by looking for one that is licensed and insured.  Then look at style and composition.  Finally, find someone with kid experience and lots of patience.  I am both licensed and insured and have over 30 years experience working with kids of all ages. My goal is never to imitate what others are doing.  My goal is to make art that is uniquely you.

Why prints and products?

Mama, I know it is hard.  There is just ALL THE STUFF to do and very little of THE TIME to do it in.  Getting family pictures made is one of those things that you will just get around to one day.  I really do get it.  But, wow, those itty bitties turn into great bigs before you know it.  Yesterday you couldn't wait to go to the bathroom alone and today they are driving off to college.  A wise mom once told me, "The days are long, but the years are so short."

This generation is perhaps the most photographed in history.  We have cell phones that are whipped out every time our new baby blinks or our teenager smirks.  I LOVE that!  We are quick to snap and then share on social media.  We are great at documenting life.  What we are really bad at is saving that documentation.  I have a drawer full of picture CDs that I can't open because my computers no longer have CD drives.  Thumb drives are going the same route.  I'm actually old enough that I have 3.25" hard floppy disks saved from long, long ago.  It's a good thing no one really wants to have to suffer through reading my college thesis.  There is no way I am ever accessing that sucker again.  The good news is that it wasn't life changing work.  The bad news for our kids is that their childhood is going to vanish.  We so seldom print out our cell phone pictures, even the good ones.

Printing pictures is my happy soapbox.  Man, I love seeing large prints and canvases on my clients' walls.  I love folio boxes where you can stack 10, 20, 30 matted pictures to enjoy over and over again in an ever changing display.  My grandmother had a folio box that we kids went through every time we went to her house.  It was so much fun looking back through old pictures.  Books and albums are my most favorite.  Did your mother make you a baby book?  Mine is a zillion years old now, but it is still fun to go back through and look at the pictures.  My nieces fall all over themselves laughing at the clothes their grandparents wore back in the day, not to mention the unfortunate outfits and hair their mother and I sported in the 80s.  It was the age of Aquanet!

Physical, tangible photos are so important for your family.  Study after study shows that family pictures on the walls build strong psyches in children.  Psychologists recommend having pictures of children and their family members in their bedrooms and in the common spaces of their home.  It develops a strong sense of family and belonging and develops emotional health.  Albums and books and prints are as important as hugs and kisses.  There will be a point when those pictures are what are left behind to remember the love.

I am not trying to add ONE MORE THING to the mom guilt plate.  I am here to help.  What is holding you back from having professional pictures made of your children?

Time?  Sessions take about an hour and are full of laughter and silliness. I can and will come to you for the consultation and sales meeting.  Then I bring your prints and products to your home.  I can even line up someone to hang all those gorgeous portraits.  Easy peasy!

Clothes?  I can help you with that!  Let me be your personal shopper.  I love picking out kid clothes.  I am also happy to give you suggestions and the locations of great stores.  We are lucky in middle Tennessee to have several shops that carry classic children's clothing and they are eager to help too.

Money?  Professional images are an investment and will end up costing about as much as a new cell phone or laptop.  Unlike electronics though, your prints and products will last a lifetime, if not longer.  I have searched out companies across the country in an effort to find the highest quality heirloom products.  With care, my prints and products should last a hundred years or longer.  That cell phone?  It is obsolete in a year.  My goal is for your great-grandchildren to fight over these pictures.

Give me a call!  I would love to hear about your amazing children and to help you plan your session!
